Hummer H4 Concept

November 21st, 2006

It seems that at the Detroit Auto Show that will be held on January, General Motors is about to unveil a new Hummer concept - the H4.

Hummer H4 ConceptIt is likely for the new Hummer H4 to be smaller than the three previous Hummers, but that doesn’t mean that it will not be a cool car, like it’s predescessors. Gossip is that the new Hummer model could be a two-seater off-road, but there is no certainty, since General Motors hasn’t yet decided on which platform to use for the new model. A smaller version of the H3 platform is one of the possibilities and the Theta platform is another one.

Also, the new concept is already known as the Beach Blanket Hummer, another name used for the H4, though there isn’t a lot of information on the car itself. There’s rumor that this future cool car could feature removable top and doors.

The vehicle would be a smaller truck that would compete with the Jeep Wrangler. A production version likely would be built for the 2010 model year.Read more about the Hummer H4 concept

Other sources say that the fourth Hummer could be on sale by 2008 or 2009.

2007 Lamborghini Gallardo

November 21st, 2006

The new Lamborghini Gallardo 2007 was announced by the manufacturer and it appeares that it will be named “Privilegio”.

Gallardo 2007 Model From LamborghiniIt looks like there is a new wheel design for the new Gallardo, but the side vents don’t seem to have any remarquable changes. The classic Gallardo is already a pretty cool car, but it looks like the new 2007 model is about to overcome it in terms of cool. What is different from the old model is that the new and exclusive 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo is painted in a combination of matte and glossy black and the interior combines a wonderful contrast of black and white.

But besides being such a cool car, the new 2007 Gallardo Privilegio from Lamborghini is also a fast car, as it uses basicly the same platform as the classic Gallardo. The 10 cylinder V engine, with 500 horsepower makes out of the exotic and luxurious vehicle a very fast car. It accelerates from 0 to 100 in 3.95 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 315km/h so it is obvious that heads will have to turn very fast in order to spot this cool car . It has a six-speed  manual gearbox and permanent 4-wheel drive. But still one cannot really decide upon what makes the 2007 Gallardo such a cool car: the engine or the exquisite look of it’s body. Also it comes with GPS as a standard.

The price wasn’t yet confirmed, but it looks like 175.000 Us dollars could buy the basic version of this really fast car that will be produced in a limited number (only about 185 units).

Nissan Silvia - Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift Car

June 16th, 2006

Nissan Silvia

IGN shows us the Nissan Silvia , one of the “less pretty” cars of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Here is a nice quote:

In the movie, Bow Wow compares this car to the Mona Lisa. That is because Bow Wow (or the script writers) is crazy.

Top 10 muscle-car - expensive auctions

June 16th, 2006

Ford TorinoCNN just released an online article about the most expensive muscle cars: these classics have risen in value faster than any other classic muscle cars. But there are still buys at the bottom.

A list of the fastest-rising muscle cars in terms of auction values includes many cars that are rare and valuable today because, when they were new, nobody wanted them. The list was compiled by the collector car editors at Kelley Blue Book.

Of the top 10, four are convertibles with big race-tuned engines. Today, most collectors aren’t interested in racing these cars. They are bought to be seen (and heard) in. Bigger engines are more desirable than smaller ones and convertibles are more desirable than hardtops. The combination can send prices right through the canvas roof.

The list includes:

Plymouth Hemi Cuda1971 Plymouth “Hemi” Cuda convertible

Value in 2000: $49,600

Value today: $2 million

Source: Kelley Blue Book

The ‘71 “Hemi” Cuda convertible is the “Holy Grail” of muscle cars today. You could count up all the surviving models on your fingers. The 1970 model, though not quite as rare, is also a very valuable gem.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-454/LS-6 convertible

Value in 2000: $28,700

Value today: $369,000

Source: Kelley Blue Book

A favorite of stock-class drag racers, this car’s Chevrolet 454 engine put out 450 horsepower.

1969 Pontiac GTO “Judge” convertible

Value in 2000: $36,750

Value today: $205,200 Source: Kelley Blue Book

The original 1964 Pontiac GTO is generally credited with being the first muscle car. In 1969, surrounded by a bumper crop of competitors, Pontiac came up with a new trim-line, “The Judge.” The name was inspired by a famous bit on the TV show “Laugh In.” Under the hood was a 366-horsepower 400-cubic-inch V-8 engine.

1964 Shelby Cobra 289 Roadster

Value in 2000: $175,000

Value in 2006: $329,100

Source: Kelley Blue Book

The Cobra makes KBB’s list even though, by most definitions, it’s not really a muscle car. For one thing, Muscle cars are supposed to be able to seat four.

Also on the muscle car list:

1969 Dodge Charger R/T-440 hardtop with Hemi engine

1968 Shelby GT-500-KR convertible

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28/SS coupe

1970 Oldsmobile 442/W-30 hardtop

1970 Plymouth Superbird-440 hardtop

1969 Ford Torino-Talladega hardtop
