Volvo introduces at the Detroit Auto Show a new concept car: the XC60.  The new XC60 Concept from Volvo is a compact, five-passenger SUV concept, a stylish and cool car, with modern but agressive design and beautiful interior. The glass sunroof is another luxurious feature of this SUV.

All the innovations brought by Volvo to this new XC60 cool Concept car give us an idea on how the cars will look at Volvo in the future.

Volvo intends to produce this new model in 2009.

The concept is powered by an E85 engine (85 % ethanol and 15% gasoline), bringing up to 265 horsepower, but the production version is expected to be powered by a six-cylinder engine (similar to the one that powers the S80), delivering around 240 horsepower. So the XC60 promisses to be a fast car, but the futuristic design makes it very cool.

New Skoda Roomster Scout will be making its world debut at the Essen Motor Show and will go on sale next March in Europe.

Skoda, the Czech affiliate of the Volkswagen Group has prepared a facelift for the Roomster’s exterior and interior to give it a sporty look, and has equipped this front-wheel-drive with sporty 16-inch wheels and tires, making the new Roomster a cool car in the MPV class.

The new Roomster Scout from Skoda is the new version of the Skoda compact MPV.
Gas and diesel engines are available: the basic option is the 1.2 HTP economic petrol engine (47 kW), the alternatives are 1.4 16V/63 kW and 1.6 16V/77 kW engines.For diesel engines Skoda offers 1.4 TDI PD engine with outputs of 51 or 59 kW and a 1.9 TDI PD/77 kW engine.

The 1.6-liter gasoline 4 cylinder that makes 103 horsepower is the top engine for this new model from Skoda and can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed Tiptronic transmission. So, it is not such a fast car, but it looks quite cool for an MPV.

The five-speed, fully synchronised gearbox is the standard for the new Skoda 2007 Roomster Scout.

The SunSet system in the tailgate, rear side windows and the rear windows (dark tinted glass in the standard package) makes the vehicle’s exterior even more attractive. At the Bologna Motor show, Zagato has presented an old, but not outdated Lancia model, the Lancia Aprilia Sport created in 1938 by Andrea Zagato’s grandfather, Ugo.

Andrea Zagato has managed to reconstruct the 1938 model basicly from scratch, since the old model no longer exists. The only source of information for this project was represented by two faded black and white (monochrome) photographs, so without any hand drawn sketches, Zagato’s heir has done wonders. Of course, he had some help from CAD modelling and CNC machining technologies, but how many people would have even imagined to do something like that?

Even nowadays, this model Of Lancia Aprilia Sport looks very much like a cool car and the car’s shape in a single volume, resembling to a cross section of a wing makes it look like it’s about to fly. Maybe that was the intention of Ugo Zagato who was inspired by naval and aviation forms (aeronautical themes were frequent in the 1930s) and it sure looks like a fast car.

The reason for this spectacular reconstruction of this cool car is the celebration of the centenary of Lancia and of the long standing affiliation between the marque and the Milanese coachbuilder for its Sport versions.

The press release from Zagato says about the actual building process of this concept car that “the sheet metal of the bodywork was then skilfully hand crafted by master panel beaters, working on a solid, machined buck”.

Mazda Japanese Automobile Company has unveiled at the Los Angeles International Auto Show an all-new concept car, Mazda Nagare (pronounced na-gah-reh).

People from Mazda described this concept car’s seductive lines as “powerful yet effortless, provocative yet strikingly”. The new Nagare concept has a very cool design with unusual proportions and surprising detailed solutions. The body is reminding of waves and flowing forms, as Mazda’s designers have tried and succeded to capture nature elements in a play of lights and shadows. The words to describe this new design could be motion, energy and lightness, but Mazda decided on one simpe word: “flow”.

But the new concept is anything but simple and the cool and futuristic design is about to set the trend for the future design line of the Japanese mark.

Mazda Nagare has the soul of a sports car with the slim and aerodynamic body and it seems to be on the verge of flying with its two wing doors handing over the entire side flank.

Innovative seat arrangements are a Mazda speciality, so they couldn’t be absent on this cool car concept of the future, were, like in a racing car the driver seat has a central position giving an optimal control of the vehicle and great visibility.

So, with so many design attributes of a sports car the imagination can go wild. This could be a fast sports car of the future and it could be propelled alternatively by a hydrogen or a petrol engine.

The new 2007 Giugiaro Ford Mustang Concept Car was finally unveiled at the LA Auto Show.

Designed by Giugiaro and powered by Ford Racing, this car of the future is breath taking. The concept is a little larger than the production version and 2010 seems to be the year for the production car.

For this cool designed concept car, Ford has chosen a 4.6L 3-valve V8 supercharged engine, bringing up to 500 horsepower, which guarantees to go from 0 to 100 in less than 5 seconds (isn’t that a fast car).

The interior is very luxurious, with it’s dark brown horsehide-covered headrests with horse logo accents. The doors are a great fature of this cool concept car, they open vertically by simply pressing a button.

With the incredible 20-inch rims, fitted with 275/40 tires on the front and larger 315/35 tires on the rear, this cool fast car will have great stability on the road.

The sunroof will be made out of a special type of crystal that filters out 100 percent of UVA rays and it is produced by Solutia of Detroit.
